Find buyer questions where competitors appear and you don't

Compare answers across AI providers, inspect the evidence, and turn a relevant gap into a content brief your team can review.

What's inside

The question and the competitor mentioned

Review buyer questions where an assistant names a competitor and leaves your brand out.

  • The original question, answering assistant and competitors mentioned.
  • Market and segment context for each finding.
  • Filter the results to focus on the assistant or market you are reviewing.

A prioritised list of opportunities

Use opportunity scores to choose which questions deserve a closer look.

  • Scores help compare gaps and their relevance to buying decisions.
  • Review the suggested action alongside your product fit and buyer knowledge.
  • Choose your own priorities within the market or segment you are working on.

The answer behind each gap

Inspect the response before deciding what content to change.

  • Full answer text with competitor mentions and available citations.
  • The assistant, date and market attached to the evidence.
  • Use the question and sources to explain a finding to your team.

Evidence and work status

Track what your team is doing separately from whether the gap still appears in new answers.

  • Evidence updates can mark a gap as resolved or reopen it when it returns.
  • Use Open, Needs triage, In progress, Done or Won't fix to manage the work.
  • Record a reason for a decision and keep related content briefs with the opportunity.

Move from a missed mention to a reviewable task

For SEO, content, and agency teams choosing what to work on next.

  1. Find the gaps worth investigating

Review prompts where competitors appear and your brand is absent. Use opportunity scores to help prioritise, then apply your knowledge of buyer intent and product fit.

  2. Check the answer and its sources

Read what the provider actually said. Compare the competitors it recommends and inspect any cited sources before deciding what your content needs to explain.

  3. Create a brief with the evidence attached

Carry the question and suggested action into Content Studio. Review the objective and outline, then track the same prompt after publishing.

Questions and answers

What is an answer gap?

An answer gap is a monitored question where an AI assistant mentions a competitor and does not mention your brand. Cleotic keeps the question, competitors and response evidence together so you can decide whether it is worth addressing.

How are gaps prioritised?

Opportunity scores help rank the gaps, with suggested actions to review. Use the score as a starting point, then check buyer intent and product fit. You can choose which opportunity to work on regardless of its ranking.

Can every gap be closed?

No. Some questions describe a product, price or market you do not serve. Mark those opportunities as Won't fix with a reason, and focus on questions where your brand is a relevant answer.

How long does closing a gap take?

There is no fixed timeline. New or revised content has to be discovered and used before it can affect an answer. Keep monitoring the original question; a change may take weeks, and some gaps will remain.

What if a question is not relevant to us?

Mark the opportunity as Won't fix and record why. It leaves the actionable list while keeping the decision available for review. If the question no longer belongs in your monitoring, update your tracked questions too.

Can a resolved gap return?

Yes. Later answers can omit your brand again, which can reopen the gap. Cleotic keeps the evidence state separate from the work status, so finishing a task does not imply that the mention will stay.
