Answer gaps
An answer gap identifies a monitored question where active competitors are mentioned in the available evidence and your primary brand is absent. Use gaps to find relevant questions to investigate, then decide whether a content change would help.
Find a gap
Answer gaps appear in Opportunities as Content gap items. Filter the list by type to see only content gaps. Open one to see who appears with each model, what the answers say, and which pages they cite.
An individual answer without your brand is not always an open gap. The gap analysis considers the available evidence for that question, which can include multiple responses.
Recommendation gaps
A recommendation gap is a question where a competitor is recommended but your primary brand is not, even if your brand appears in the text. Answer gaps and recommendation gaps for the same question share one content gap, so each question appears once.
Understand the score
A content gap's score combines the question's demand, how badly your brand fares across models, and how many of the top cited pages aren't owned by competitors. The opportunity shows these as its Demand, Gap, and Winnable facts.
The score orders the list. It doesn't estimate traffic, revenue, or the probability of winning a recommendation. Judge the question's relevance to your business too, since a question explicitly about a competitor may not be a useful content target.
Work a gap
- Read the answer excerpts to understand why the competitor appears.
- Check the cited pages and verify the claims against them. See Citations.
- Select Draft with evidence to create a brief, then generate a draft if your plan allows it or write the content in your usual editor.
- Review and publish the content outside Cleotic.
- Watch later prompt runs for new evidence.
A content gap moves from Now to In flight when its first brief is created, and to Watching when a brief is published. Only a person can mark it Won. If the gap reappears, it returns to Now. Dismiss replaces the old won't-fix decision.
Publishing doesn't mean your brand has started appearing. Check the proof and later answers before treating the gap as closed.
When gaps are missing
Confirm that the brand has an active primary brand record, active competitors, and captured responses. Gaps from paused prompts or segments leave the list until you resume them. Check the segment and type filters, and the Snoozed and Dismissed views. A question with no competitor mentions isn't an answer gap under this definition.
